Explore The Area
AERU and the KEP are located in the beautiful Garden Route, which spans the Cape coast from Mossel Bay to Storms River. This stretch of coastline is world famous for its ecological diversity and beauty, which offers endless adventure and entertainment for visitors.
Activities in the Garden Route range from whale and dolphin watching, hiking, surfing and swimming with seals in Plettenberg Bay to shark cage diving in Mossel Bay and the world’s highest Bungee Jump in Storms River.
For those who prefer a more tranquil and relaxing experience, the Garden Route offers world class beaches, local wine tasting in the newly established Plettenberg Wine Region, local craft markets and many casual to fine dining restaurants to choose from.
The Garden Route is also home to several game reserves and a unique selection of world-class animal sanctuaries.
Several of these facilities offer AERU volunteers discounted rates, and we encourage all our volunteers to make use of their weekends to explore, experiencing all the Garden Route has to offer.
Transportation can be arranged individually through local taxi companies, tour companies and car hire in Plettenberg Bay. AERU team will assist you in making contact with reliable taxi companies.
